Light vs Darkness

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Today being Halloween got me thinking about the lies Satan plants in our hearts to deceive us. He starts when we are little children turning us against our parents by planting the seeds of " Nobody loves me, if my parents really cared about me I wouldn't have to be here cleaning the sheep pen". We need to squelch that lie with the truth that your parents do indeed love you very much, and they want your best which they are taking the time to instill good character, like good work ethics. If we believe that lie Satan has already got a good-sized foothold once we are teenagers and the lie that, " My parents just do NOT understand" comes up. Believe it or not your very parents were once teenagers them selves, and they more often than not do indeed understand. We become hardened with bitterness against our parents and end up living a life of bondage. Just like in the picture of the dark path it did not take long for that path to wind down from light to complete darkness. However....

...There is a path that leads to the Light. The true light of the world, Jesus. By following the truth and countering Satan lies with it we can continue upward in the light of Life.

I hope that made sense...

Only in America

(This struck me as amusing...)

ONLY IN AMERICA

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is it that to stop Windows, you have to click on 'Start'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

When dog food is new and improved tasting, who tests it?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Happy 1st Birthday John!

Wow one year already! It seems just like yesterday that I was nervously waiting for your arrival so I could catch you. You have brought so much joy through the year you have been with us. I love you!

A few good quality's we have seen already in John:

  • He is easily amused. (I have never seen someone so overjoyed at the sight of a helium balloon. )
  • He is cheerful. (unless teething or natural causes, he is all around a very jolly baby)

Give him time... He'll have more.

I Love you "Bonny Johnny" !
Love,
Hillary

To master The Rubik's cube.

>> Friday, October 5, 2007

How many of you have tried to master the famous Rubik's cube? How many of you have succeeded? I have tried to master this puzzle for weeks since we got it. Leah has gotten it numerous times in the past few weeks, but I just couldn't seem to get it! Then today I did it! It isn't really that hard once you figure out the formula (just like algebra) :-) Oh the joy of success!

Leah and I showing off our victory's!
