What happens when you leave Hillary sitting out in the sun too long...

>> Saturday, August 29, 2009

I don't exactly spoil like mayonnaise, though one would think with the way I love to eat it something along those lines would happen.

It appears that I simply fulfill everyone's favorite line from Taylor swift's infamous song: "picture to burn"

"State the obvious you didn't get that complection from me
I realize I should have left you underneath that tree
So watch me strike the sun on your very white face
as far as I'm concerned you can sit out there and BURN!"

Ooookkkkk getting to the point....

"burn baby buuuurn!"

I just HAD to include the other picture.. it does not quite do the burn justice, but it has the farmer tan line (or burn line in this case!)

We had a blast at the Air show though!

:D

The worst thing is, in a few days it will be "peel baby peel" and then I will be all white again! :-( Life is not fair!

Something Heavenly

>> Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Whatever you're doing inside of me,
it feels like chaos but somehow there's peace.
And it's hard to surrender to what I can't see,
but I'm giving into something heavenly.

Listen to the whole song here.

Dye 101

>> Wednesday, August 19, 2009

I had this shirt that I liked...but the color was not the best on me. It was a whitish Grey with while lace trim. I decided this morning to dye it navy blue, but I did not want to dye the lace.... What I ended up with was a pleasant surprise that I thought I would share with y'all (in case someone wants to dye something!)

First I took the shirt and tied the hemline where the lace was in a rubber band type thing to keep it contained and separate from the rest of the shirt. I tied an apron string to the rubber band and attached that to the cupboard door handle above the stove so that the lace would remain above the dye in the pot while the rest of the shirt would get dyed. Ingenious right!? Well not exactly for the result I was looking for.
You see, the dye kinda seeped through the rubber band... and got on the lace..and then only parts of it were blue. and it was splotchy.

I was a little disappointed as I rinsed the shirt so I just took it for what it was and washed the whole thing in clean water. Now the residue of dye in the shirt dyed that water and consequently made the lace a light shade of the same blue as the shirt. what I did not realize at the time was that since I bunched up the bottom of the shirt when I dyed it, I ended up making a very neat tie dye hem line that matched the rest of the shirt perfectly!

Below are some pictures of the result.

PS if you have dye (rinse) water left in the sink...try adding bleach and see what happens! In my other life I may just have to be a mad scientist.

Praise you in this storm.

>> Thursday, August 13, 2009

I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls

I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
