Random life

I took the kids to a bubble show that they earned for reading library books. On the way home it was decided (by me) that ice cream should be consumed. McDonalds... 89cents each :D

We went to the zoo and this turtle liked me. He came over and sat there looking at me right across the glass! I was a little disturbed.

Leah was walking along at the zoo and got gum stuck to her foot, of course we did have to take a picture of it :D

I saw this shirt at Walmart on clearance... My siblings said it was "me" so I got it :D *looks cute*

We were goofing around at the park and dad decided to give a head standing lesson! Now y'all know where we got it from....

My Dream; My Future...

>> Tuesday, July 21, 2009

So school is out and I have graduated, not only do I now face hoards of people who know me when I “was this big” wanting to know what I am doing with my life but my mail box flooded with colleges telling me to, “Dream B!G” and, “Experience the difference” not to mention, “We Believe you belong here” . Everyone wants to know what I am doing with my life, where I will go to college, when, and what for. I can hardly blame them; I’ve asked myself that question every couple days for the past year.

I looked into colleges, attended Northeast Community College for one summer semester just to take two short classes, and weighed my options. I will admit that the idea of being independent and doing something people would approve of with my life was appealing at first. Disclaimer: I am NOT saying that anything whatsoever is wrong with that, just hear me out. :D

But, that is not what I really wanted to do with my life. Ever since I was little all I wanted to do was be a good wife and mommy. I wanted to have a man that was mine to love with all my heart. I wanted to give him children we could raise in the love and admonition of the Lord. I don’t need a college education for that but as y’all know I can’t exactly bring that about by myself. While some of y’all may disagree with me, I am quite solidly convinced that it is the man’s place to initiate the relationship, not mine.

As I looked ahead to this winter I was thinking: “Hey, I can go to college and like get a teaching degree or do Nutrition to pass the time while I wait for Prince Charming”. I just wanted to get to the point where I that my life in someone’s hands and then they could decide what we did with our lives and I would follow him.

The more I thought about it I remembered that I have already committed my life to someone, I have committed my life in its entirety to Jesus Christ. He has known since the beginning of time just exactly when every breath I take will be. He holds my future and releases it to me one day at a time.

When people ask me what I am doing with my life, I get weird looks when I tell them but I don’t even care anymore.

So to answer the infamous question concerning my future plans, I am living my future; every day one at a time, for my Hero, Savior, Lover, and Lord.

Laughing With?

In the past few days I have listened to this haunting song by Regina Spektor a few times and have played it for anyone who would listen. Every time I hear it the same question burns in my mind. What does she mean by the last line " We are all laughing with God" ? You listen and tell me what you think!

Lyrics:

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

*Chorus*
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha
Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got
And they don’t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God when they’re saying their goodbyes
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very
poor

No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
We’re all laughing with God
