Purity

(Thank you all for the kind Birthday wishes!)

One of the Gifts I received for my birthday was a Promise/Purity ring from Dad. I thought I would share a bit of what he wrote in his note with you since he did such a good job explaining it:-)

"...16 is a wonderful age to be, so many new opportunities. Some of these will be opportunities to embrace the life that God has given, and to enjoy. Some of the opportunities will be temptations, and things to turn away from....
It is possible that in the years ahead you will be faced with the temptation to compromise your chastity. Use this ring as a reminder to cry out to God in the moment of temptation, and to remain pure until the day you are married. 'No temptation has seized you except what is common to man, And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted He will also provide a way out so you can stand up under it.'
There is a heart in the center of this ring. It represents my love for you, and your heart . There are two little diamonds surrounding the heart...guarding it. They represent purity and faithfulness. These are to remind you to let these quality's guard your heart, remembering that God withholds no good thing from him whose walk is blameless... "

Though it, like as not, makes no difference to you:-), it meant a lot to me and I thought I would share it with you all!

Hillary

>> Wednesday, December 5, 2007

Well, I am hacking my sister's blog to let everyone know that it is her birthday today. Can you imagine that this lovely lady is sweet sixteen today? A
few of the character qualities that Hillary possesses...

  1. Compassion. If you are hurt, or just feeling down Hillary is the one that you want to go to for sympathy. She always is willing to stop what she is doing to comfort a hurt, read a story to the injured or pick John up to cheer him when life gets to be too much
  2. Sincerity. You can trust that Hillary is being honest when she is sharing her heart with you, and if you ask her for an evaluation she will be honest there too. I am not saying this as a nice way to say that she does not mince words, she speaks the truth in love!
  3. Creativity. I suppose that since you have been reading her blog I should not have to expand on this one too much, but I must mention that Hillary is very creative in more ways than pictures. She is never afraid to tackle a new project that she has never even see anyone do before. I guess that out steps creativity a bit, but that brings up another quality of Hillary's, her adventuresome spirit.
  4. Cheerfulness. Hillary's name means, "a person who never saw a cloud on a rainy day." She possesses a spirit of cheerfulness that often lifts me from my dumps. Sometimes, as I am laughing at something that she has said, I think, "How boring my life would be without Hillary."
  5. Humility. Hillary is willing to take correction, which as her teacher in school, is something that I value highly! Her lack of desire to bring attention to her own achievements is a blessing.
The list could go on.... Hillary, thank you for being such a great sister, my dearest friend who knows me better than anyone and loves me anyway, for all the help you are here at home, and for setting an example to me many times. I love you! Happy Birthday!

( Sorry, this is a day late!)

As some of you know Katie Wattermanns 18th Birthday was yesterday. Katie and I have been friends since the year 1997* when they moved out here to Nebraska and began their life here in our house! Katie, you have been a real friend. You told me to shut up ( In a nice way!) when I would get a little too carried away watching football. You cried on my shoulder when Grandma Jo died and I cried on yours when Mom left. Thank you!

Here are some pictures from Katie's last photo shoot. Enjoy!

(My personal Favorite)

Sometimes..

Sometimes the night was beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close
You could touch it but your heart would break
Sometimes the morning came too soon
Sometimes the day could be so hot
There was so much work left to do
But so much You'd already done

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that, no less than he
And on this road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
But never beyond Your reach

The Wattermanns

This post is dedicated to the Wattermann family to whom I will be eternally grateful for the input they have had in my life.

Randy and Big Trina you have been an example of a godly couple, as well as my "2nd Parents" There have been countless times when I needed help, and you were always there. ( Who else would be able to come up with a recipe for ketchup in 2 minutes flat?!).

Katie, You have the mark of a true friend; you know me and still love me. :-) How many times have I embarrassed you so much you were about to deny your ever knowing me, but you never did.

Matthew, Hmmmm I am thinking wicked thoughts ... :-) How shall we say... You threw me in the pool, told where I was hiding in hide and seek, and threw water on me while I was taking Katie's picture! What can I say, you were a big brother when mine were all gone. Thank you.

Laura, Christopher, Samantha, William, Phillip, and Robert, You have all been a part of my life since before most of you were born! Laura is my favorite person to harass and partner in getting Matthew. Well I really like harassing William too, Robert is my biggest fan, and the list goes on.

Through this situation with mom I have learned what friends are for. The Wattermanns are REAL Friends.

Thank You!

Happy 11th Birthday, Benjamin

Well Ben.G, I can still remember the weeks after you were born. Especially when Mom and Dad missed my birthday because you were in the Hospital under the Billyreuben lights.

Good Quantity's Benjamin has:
  • He is a good babysitter. All little kids love Him!
  • He is a gentleman. He is so good at running and carrying things, opening doors, etc...
  • He is responsible, as was proved by the awesome birthday present he got...
As I said Benjamin got a really neat present from Dad... His first gun; A 20 gage shot gun.
The proud owner...
Carry on in the Lord, Brother! I love you.

Sunrise.

As I was getting dressed the other morning Benjamin began franticly knocking on the door sputtering something about a really good picture outside. I have made it a habit to always look when someone comes and says they have seen a "really good picture". So I went out to have a look, knowing that sunrise pictures lats about 5 minutes before they are gone. He wasn't kidding, it was gorgeous out there. It was also very cold! Here is the panoramic view from out the back door. I will try to post some of the other picture later.
