"Sometimes I think of Abraham,
How one star he saw had been lit for me"
-Rich Mullins

Have you ever thought of Abraham, and his faith. I am sure you have! Has God ever given you a promise, put all the odds against you, and then said "Trust Me!" . I have been challenged in this area so often, God says "believe", and I can't see any feasible way He could pull it off; not that I don't want Him too!

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for,
And certain of what we do not see"
-Hebrews 11:1

Are you sure? Certain?

"Abraham believed God, and it was credited to Him as righteousness"
- James 2:23

Do you believe God?

So you got all that down, now how about this verse?:

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
-James 2:17

If Faith unaccompanied by action is dead, what action should we take? What action can one take on a matter that is completely out of their hands? You have no control over the situation at all, which is why you are having to take it on faith!

What do you all think?

Party Day #2

>> Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Soooo... Hillary tries a new recipe; Orange smoothies.

Rosie: (in winey tone) "Hey guys, I can't get my stuff out".

Emily: " Oh sure you can, here let me show you"
Emily lifts her cup to her mouth to give Rosie an example.

Suddenly all the 'stuff' slides down in one huge clump and splats smacks onto Emily's face. Emily yells...

We all start laughing...

Rosie:" Um guys.."

We all laugh at Emily some more...

R
osie: "Um guys..."

.............................

Rosie (more urgently): "Um GUUUUUYYYS!" our attention is now captured.. "I ...a ....had a ackzedent"

Orange smoothie is all over the floor and Rosie's face was... well... priceless!

We all went into hysterics at the sight of her.

Rosie: (Quite angrily ) : "This is not funny!"

Then we all had to try it....

Yup we are having fun! (Even Rosie!)

Hmmm, I wonder if Dad and Mom have thought of checking the blog to see what we are up to...

A Dream Come True...

>> Thursday, March 20, 2008

I have wanted a dog since our last dog ran away about 2 years ago. Dad wasn't to hot on the idea so I had just figured that I would have to marry a guy with a dog, but I kept on praying...
Lo and behold, just yesterday mom told us at the breakfast table that our neighbor had a dog that was giveen to them by and elderly fellow who had to move; since they already had 4 dogs they wanted to know if we wanted it!
Mom and Dad had already decided it was Ok, if he was nice; so we went to look at him.
To make a long story short, we brought him home yesterday and so far he is just what I prayed for!
He is Big, nice, doesn't chase chickens, loves kids, middle aged, fairly well trained etc... God is so good! :-)

Oh, he loves to give kisses!

He came with the name Hercules, and we haven't decided what to change to to yet... any ideas?

Happy 4th Birthday !
(one day late!)

It seems funny that 4 years have already gone by since I witnessed for the first time the absolutely amazing phenomena of a baby being born!
You are always a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day! My die hard sick buddy, and the only one who has ever told me that they wanted to be me when they grew up! I love you Rosie.

Rosie had a wonderful day; I think! We had a lovely Tea Party, the pictures of which I will post shortly.

It Couldn't be done.

It Couldn't Be Done

"Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't", but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing,
That couldn't be done and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin
Just take off your coat and go to it.
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it."

This gathering was due to the arrival of new silverware! Nice, Michael, and Timo, Nice!

The joys of homeschooling. Hey, I wanted a change of scenery!

Dying to Self

DYING TO SELF

When you are forgotten, or neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don't sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy, being counted worthy to suffer for Christ.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend yourself, but take in all in patient, loving silence.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any impunctuality, or any annoyance; when you stand face-to- face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility-and endure it as Jesus endured.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When you are content with any food, any offering, any climate, any society, any raiment, any interruption by the will of God.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation, or to record your own good works, or itch after commendations, when you can truly love to be unknown.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart.

THAT IS DYING TO SELF

"I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward."

May God be your shield and reward this year Leah.

"I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?

I’m your buckaroo, I wanna be like you.

And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.

By then I’ll be strong as superman,

Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad

I want to do everything you do.

So I’ve been watching you!"
